Watch out for Sarah Palin -- a prediction

I know predictions are risky in politics -- but who wants to "play it safe?" Not me. So here it goes.

I think Sarah Palin is definitely going to build a national network for her presidential run in 2012. She has some backing from some GOP elite, like William Kristol, for example. The GOP is desperately looking for people who can excite their base, and what we saw in 2008 is that Sarah Barracuda can do just that. But it's the fascist-leaning part of the GOP's base. And that is what she is going to build on. So here is my prediction: she's going to criss-cross the lower 48 and build up storm troopers on a national level. Those in the GOP elite think this is the way to go. The more moderate still left in the GOP are a weak minority. The GOP has gone more and more to the far-right since the election of Obama. Witness the increasing shrillness of Rush Limbaugh -- the self-proclaimed leader -- of the GOP, Newt Gingrich and the others in the media blabosphere like Glenn Beck.

Second prediction: three areas Sarah Barracuda is going to attack the Obama administration and try to drum up support on: racism, role of government and the role of the United States in the world. These themes are dynamically intertwined and are the heart and soul of the ideology of the far-right and corporate power. Already attacks on the role of government are happening -- using anti-Communism (i.e. everything the government plays a role in is "socialistic") and racism. And on a new foreign policy -- that Obama is making America "weak."

They are doing everything in their power to limit and roll back the tremendous people's victory last November and Sarah will be their gal to try to do it.

Third prediction: It will get ugly -- but they won't be successful.

If White House Is Her Goal, Palin’s Route Is Risky

People power on the march

What a beautiful sight it has been to see the hundreds of volunteers in my little city over the past few days, young and old, perched in corners on folding chairs, sitting on the floor, in any nook or cranny, using cell phones or landlines, calling voters across the nation to vote to TURN OUR COUNTRY AROUND - peace, unity, stop the hate and slime, put people before corporate greed. This morning I spent an hour phonecalling voters in the Old Dominion state - in fact in the former capital of the Confederacy, Richmond - reminding them to vote and where to vote. Around me were over a hundred folks doing the same. It's been a steady stream of volunteers of all ages, I'd say the majority women - a strong rejection of the repulsive Sarah Palin. Enthused, energized and ready to move ahead to build for progressive change in our country.

Here's a video for today - people power on the move:

Palin gets $150,000 new wardrobe, 'She enjoys being a girl'

FROM Politico: RNC shells out $150,000 for Palin fashion
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1008/14805.html

Yeah, come on hockey/soccer/band/computer-geek moms of the world, wouldn't you like a shopping spree, hair stylist and make up artist all expenses paid? You betcha Sarah Palin did. $150,000 worth of a new "hockey mom" look. That red leather jacket? Paid for by the Republican campaign.

Wish some videoartist would do a thing of her primping with "I enjoy being a girl" in the background.

Maybe John McCain was thinking about these expenses when the "lipstick on a pig" comment came out?!? That would explain his confusion.

WARNING: this is funny

This one comes from PWW editorial board member Roberta Wood, a big fan of Andy B. Aren't we all!?!

Palin blasts Obama's ties to Weather Channel

‘Palling around with meteorologists,' guv claims

By Andy Borowitz

Alaska governor Sarah Palin went on the attack today, claiming that Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama had longstanding ties to The Weather Channel.

"What does it say about our opponent that he thinks this nation's weather is so imperfect that he needs to be allied with The Weather Channel?" she asked a crowd in Tampa, Florida. "There's a fine line between hating America's weather and hating America herself."

Gov. Palin said that she learned about Sen. Obama's ties to The Weather Channel last week "when I was trying hard to read The New York Times."

"They said that Sen. Obama was hanging out with weathermen," she said. "Do we really want to elect someone who has been palling around with meteorologists?"
Gov. Palin's latest attacks came on the heels of a new poll showing that the only demographic group that still support her are morons, sometimes referred to by political insiders as "no-information voters."

"It may sound like she spouting idiocy, but there's a method to her madness," said Tracy Klugian, a Republican strategist. "She's speaking to her base."

Elsewhere, Sen. John McCain's practice session for the second presidential debate was cut short when his pants burst into flame.

STORY LEADS --- HEY anyone interested??

OK -- Why hasn't the major media picked up on this tidbit,

"Palin associates with political party whose founder said, 'I have no use for America or her damned institutions.'"

http://www.politicalaffairs.net/article/articleview/7531/

http://www.pww.org/article/articleview/13641/

And here is an update on Troopergate: Todd to testify!!!

Imagine if Michelle was supposed to testify in some investigation of Barack!!! What a field day the major media and the far-right would have. But here it's just a footnote.

What about those 18 million cracks?

Sarah Palin's speech was just what Republicans like in a woman. It was mean-spirited, all form and no substance. Absolutely nothing about furthering those 18 million cracks in the glass ceiling. Actually her speech was more about covering up those cracks.

Who is Palin?

She is associated with the far-right/white supremecist Alaskan Independence Party. See Tim Wheeler's story. http://www.pww.org/article/articleview/13641/

It's an insult to ordinary working class people, moms, and small town folks to be compared to her and her reactionary ideology.

Absolutely nothing of substance in her speech. No policy information. And she couldn't because she is so far-right and the country is tired of these policies. So instead she launched a typical Rovian mean-spirited attack on the Democrats and Obama. Like Giuliani and those before her. It was like watching those "super-Orcs" from Middle Earth crawl out of the fires of Saurmon.

They are desperate.

Not your ordinary shotgun wedding

Nope, not when you have the GOP candidate for the United States. These kids are facing an assault weapon wedding. Wow. Lot of pressure for teenagers.

Now the GOP is accusing everyone of sexism. This has got Karl Rove's fingerprints all over it. They want to talk about anything but public policy and issues.

Why Palin

Among the reasons given for McCain to have chosen Sarah Palin as running mate (getting HRC supporters, mobilizing far-right base) one other should be considered: Keeping Alaska in GOP hands.

Alaska is a HUGE state with a LOT of OIL and ENERGY wealth. Putting the state's governor on the presidential ticket should mobilize a big GOP turnout in November. A GOP turn out that could possibly vote straight GOP, even for their indicted and embattled GOP senator Ted Stevens.

After Stevens was indicted, the Alaska senate race came into play. Stevens faces popular Anchorage Mayor Mark Begich, a Democrat, in a year that Democrats seem to have the mo' on their side.

The Dems are trying to get at least 57 Senate seats -- a veto-proof 60 majority would be better -- to avoid making the SEnate the bastion of reaction that it had played in the 1930s and 1960s preventing reform legislation from being passed. Every seat counts and especially Alaska's seat. After all, drilling in ANWR or other Big Oil deals could be at stake.
